We advise all our customers to have their boilers serviced annually, however, we do get several customers ask us why. Annual boiler servicing is important to keep your boiler working safely and efficiently. But there are also a few other reasons that you may not be aware of which we have outlined below.
Keeping your home safe
As we just mentioned, annual boiler servicing is advised to help keep your home safe. Your boiler is on for several hours every day, as with any machine that is in near enough constant use things will start to deteriorate if not looked after. An annual boiler service is the opportunity to repair faulty parts and give it a good internal clean.
If you don’t book in an annual boiler service, you could find that these parts deteriorate so much it can cause your boiler to emit harmful gases such as carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is very dangerous to the body and can go undetected as it is colourless and odourless. Don’t run the risk of having a dangerous boiler in your home and book a boiler service today.
Helping to reduce your energy bills
Part of a boiler service includes cleaning internal parts. Boiler parts can develop soot build up from burning fuel. Once these parts are cleaned, they can operate more efficiently which will help your boiler use less fuel to generate the same amount of energy. It is this increase in efficiency which can help reduce your energy bills.
Complying with insurance policies and warranty terms
Most home insurance providers and boiler manufacturers state in their Ts & Cs that any claims made to them, regarding a boiler, will only be successful if an annual service record can be presented. If you want to ensure that your home insurance remains valid, you will have to show evidence of your boiler service history. Similarly, with boiler manufacturers, if you have boiler issues whilst the boiler is still in warranty the manufacturer may not have to issue a replacement if it states that annual servicing is required in their Ts & Cs.
Be sure to check your paperwork to avoid finding this out the hard way if you must make a claim!
