Is your boiler losing pressure? If so, there can be a few reasons for this. Check below for a few options as to why your boiler is losing pressure. If you are unsure as to why this is happening then you can call in the experts to help sort it.

Faulty pressure relief valve

You will find most boilers operate at a normal level or 1.0 – 1.5 bar of pressure. This can increase to 3 and that’s when you know there is a problem, such as a leak. There is a pressure relief valve (PRV) on your boiler which will notice this and solve the problem by releasing it automatically. Unfortunately, if your PRV is faulty then it won’t recognise this, and pressure will continue to fall.

Leaks

The main reason for a drop in pressure is a leak somewhere in your central heating system. Be sure to check around the boiler and around the radiators to try and locate this. The best way to find a leak is to look for little puddles on the floors. You could also find leaks in your ceilings, once you have found the culprit be sure to call in the experts to fix the problem for you.

Bleeding radiators

If you have recently taken that special key to bleed your radiators then your pressure is low due to this. When you bleed them air is released which causes the pressure to drop. Wait a little while and the pressure should be back to normal, nothing to worry about.

We hope you found this helpful and you rectify any issues you are having with your boiler.
